It’s likely they would turn to different leagues, either domestic or overseas, much like how the NBA has its stars playing in foreign countries while their league is in a lockout. That way, the players would still have an income, a team to play for, and play the sport they love.
There’s still something that’s needed to ensure a sense of equality between players and owners in the NFL. I wouldn’t be opposed to an alternative solution such as increased sanctions for owners and teams who violate the collective bargaining agreement. Just like when an individual is found guilty of something, if penalties become too severe, instead of changing the behavior the people will either break laws even more and even accept the potential consequences to continue their wrong-doing.
However, I’m not really sure what’s worse, suspending NFL players without pay or allowing large teams or owners to get away with profiting while breaking agreements. It seems like either way, individuals without a voice will get stepped on and dismissed. Nevertheless, I believe it’s wrong to suspend NFL players without pay. It is unethical and simply wrong.
