When people talk about the NFL, I’m always curious about the lives of the referees who make the calls on the field.​ Their job is much more than just deciding who made the catch and who should be penalized – do they have to pay for their own travel to the games, too? After looking into it, I now know the full story.​

First of all, all referees, just like the players, are on the payroll of the NFL – They get paid for their work on game day, and they get additional benefits like pensions, health insurance, and – yes – travel expenses too.​ Referees have to travel all over the country by air, train, or bus in order to officiate games, and the NFL will cover the cost of their ticket, accommodations, and other travel expenses.​ It’s a nice perk, considering how far they have to go and the amount of planning that goes into each trip.​

But that’s not all: Referees also get a significant per diem allowance on top of what they get for their travel expenses.​ This helps them to cover any additional costs that might come up while they’re on the road.​ Referees will have to pay for meals, toiletries, WiFi, parking fees, and other incidentals themselves, but the financial support from the league should go a long way toward covering those costs.​

So, NFL referees don’t have to worry about having to pay for their own travel – the league takes care of them, and they can generally rest assured that they’re going to be taken care of financially.​ As someone who loves to travel, I have to admit that I’m a bit jealous of these guys!

But it’s not all sunshine and roses for referees – They also have to deal with long hours of work, stressful situations, and constant public scrutiny.​ It goes without saying that being an NFL referee is a huge responsibility, and they don’t get nearly as much credit as the players do.​ They work hard behind the scenes to make sure that games run as smoothly as possible, and they are an important part of the overall NFL experience.​

However, while it’s a difficult job, it’s an important one, too.​ Referees have to be willing to travel to get the job done, and thankfully, the NFL provides them with the necessary support to make that happen.​ I’m sure that most of them would agree that the pay and benefits are worth the effort.​

So that’s what I’ve learned about the travel arrangements for NFL referees.​ I’m now more aware of what they do and the challenges they face, and I’m grateful for a league that is willing to take care of their employees – even if means paying for their travel.​

Now, the question is: How does the NFL handle the travel arrangements for referees? Well, the league works with a third-party travel agency that is responsible for arranging and booking all of the flights, hotels, and other travel accommodations for the referees.​ The agency also provides them with a detailed itinerary for each trip so they know exactly where they need to be and when.​

On top of that, the NFL provides each referee with a credit card that is linked to their travel agency account, and the referees can then use it to pay for their travel-related expenses on the road.​ This helps them to stay organized and also keeps them from having to carry large amounts of cash with them.​

In addition to the travel agency, the league also works with other vendors and suppliers to cover any other expenses that might come up during travel.​ For example, the NFL will help to cover the cost of meals, incidentals, and other miscellaneous items that the referees might need while they’re on the road.​

So, do NFL referees have to pay for travel? Not typically.​ The league does an excellent job of taking care of its referees and providing them with the support and resources they need to get the job done.​ At the end of the day, it’s a great testament to the way the NFL takes care of its own, and it’s something that we can all appreciate.​
