I remember the first time I experienced the national anthem before an NFL game. I was at a local stadium watching my favorite team. It was a huge game that was being televised nationally. The moment the announcer stated, “Ladies and gentlemen, we’ll be starting the pre-game ceremony in just a few moments,” I knew it was going to be special.
As the pre-game began, I felt the energy in the stadium increase tenfold. Everybody was standing and the stadium lights dimmed. That’s when I heard the beautiful, emotional notes of the national anthem begin to drift through the stadium.
It was something I will never forget. The reverence. The awe. All eyes were on the massive screen showing our flag, and the chills that ran through my body as the anthem played are almost beyond description.
