It’s never too early to start thinking about the NFL draft class of 2022! This upcoming crop of elite talent is sure to excite scouts, coaches, and fans alike. To say that I am absolutely buzzing about this coming draft season would be an understatement! Just thinking about all the potential gems that could be unearthed in the annual NCAA football showcase is enough to make any football enthusiast giddy with anticipation.
For starters, the 2022 draft class is projected to be filled with some of the best quarterbacks in the entire league. Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence is the obvious frontrunner in that respect, but there are a plethora of other top flight signal callers vying for the top spot. Players like Ohio State’s Justin Fields and Alabama’s Mac Jones have shown the poise and leadership qualities required to become successful NFL starters, while their fellow draft prospect Trey Lance from North Dakota State has the raw physical skills that could make him a multi-year starter.
What’s more, there are a plethora of wide receivers that have all the makings of becoming bonafide superstars. Florida’s Kadarius Toney, LSU’s Terrace Marshall Jr., and Georgia’s George Pickens are just a few of the skilled playmakers that could become the go-to targets of future Hall of Fame quarterbacks.
If I had to pick one player in the 2022 draft class that could be a diamond in the rough, it would have to be Oregon defensive tackle Jordon Scott. His stout build and remarkable strength could help him anchor a defensive line for many years to come. It’s possible that he doesn’t even make it out of the first round!
Moving on to the offensive line, this class is set to be one of the deepest in recent memory. Big names such as Aaryn Wrench, Michael Tarquin, and David Moore are just a few of the players that have the potential to become stalwarts on the front lines. If I had to pick one that I think might have the biggest impact on a future franchise, it would be Tarquin. With his terrific combination of size and athleticism, he could help solidify an NFL offense for years to come.
Last but certainly not least on the list of potential steals of the draft are the defensive backs. With several of the top cornerbacks in the draft like Georgia’s Eric Stokes, USC’s Jayden Waddle, and Notre Dame’s Jacoby Stevens all boasting the ball-hawking skills necessary to become shutdown corners, this group is sure to be a hot commodity.
That’s a quick look at the draft class of 2022. I’m not gonna lie, I’m downright juiced for this year’s NFL draft season! It’s going to be a fascinating year for football fans and, in my opinion, we’re in for some of the most compelling competition in recent history.
