It’s that time of year again. The NFL is gearing up for one of the most highly anticipated seasons of all time, and like any other year, the race to see who will bag the most sacks in 2022 has already begun. I am beaming with excitement at the possibilities of who will take the crown this year.
There has been an influx of talent coming into the league, making it a lot harder to call this one, but if I had to make a prediction I must say it’s not going to be the usual suspects at the top of this race. Up-and-coming players such as Chase Young and A.J. Epenesa have all the potential to really change things up and potentially give a few of the veterans a run for their money.
Chase Young is already one of the premier players among the younger generation and it wouldn’t surprise me if he makes an immediate impact on the league and stomps out the opposition. He owns a sheer power and agility on the field, making him an instant menace to offenses around the nation. A.J. Epenesa, on the other hand, is no joke either as he also possesses a unique ability that puts him right up there with the other high-caliber players in the league. He wouldn’t be at the top of my list of favorites, but I certainly wouldn’t bet it all against him either.
Next up, I can’t forget to mention some of the veterans of the game such as Von Miller and J.J. Watt. Now these guys need no introductions, as their resumes speak for themselves. I mean, have you seen them play? It’s mind-blowing. They also have a great experience in this league and know how to use those instinctive senses to spot out weak points in the opposing defense. They’re the true hedgehog’s of the game.
The season is still a while away, so it’s too early to say who’s going to be at the top come mid-season, but I’m confident that the contender’s of 2022 will put on a show and really give us something to remember. It’s safe to say that many will surprise us, and I’m hoping it’s someone I least expect. I’m definitely going to be keeping my eye on this race and try to sort out the wheat from the chaff.
With that being said, now let’s get into the real contenders and who might have a real chance of bringing home the crown this year. Some of the most impactful veterans in the league such as JJ Watt, Von Miller, Aaron Donald, and Julio Jones are definitely in contention, but it will be interesting to see who adds some flavor to the race season as well as who comes out on top. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of the top rookies in this year’s draft class makes their mark as well.
Let’s not forget about the reigning champion Myles Garrett either. He’s an absolute force to be reckoned with and has consistently maintained his title throughout the season. He’s not one to let anyone grab the top spot from him without a fight, so although I wouldn’t count him out, the odds are sure to be stacked against him.
It’s going to be tough to call it from now, but that’s what makes this race all the more exciting. Anyone could make a surprise emergence, any of the veterans could bounce back and reign supreme, or the rookies could revolutionize the leader board completely. It really gives me the goosebumps just thinking about it! All in all, I can say that no matter the outcome this is sure to be an electrifying season full of unexpected twists and turns. Who will take home the crown? Only time will tell.
