I’m always amazed when I think about how many Texas A&M players make it to the NFL. It’s like, wow, just a few years ago they were back in College Station, and then all of a sudden, they’re on the national stage. It’s truly remarkable! I mean, being a college football player is one thing, but making it in the NFL hacks a huge accomplishment. I’m sure they all worked tirelessly to get to where they are now, and it certainly is paying off.
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of Texas A&M NFL players is Johnny Manziel. I remember when Johnny first burst onto the scene back at A&M. Everyone was amazed and excited about this special talent. After graduating, Johnny went on to have an impressive career in the pros, playing for both the Cleveland Browns and the Montreal Alouettes. He may not have been quite the force he was earlier on, but it’s undeniable that playing in the NFL is a huge deal.
Next, I can’t forget about Von Miller. Von was drafted in 2011 and is now one of the best players on the Denver Broncos. He has been named a Super Bowl MVP, first-team All Pro, and since coming into the NFL, he’s been a regular force to be reckoned with. What’s even more impressive is that Von has begun his own business, as well as his own charity, the Von Miller Foundation. He has used his success in the NFL to do some good for those less fortunate, which is definitely admirable.
Christian Kirk is another Texas A&M alumni who’s made it big in the NFL. He was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 2018 and has become one of their most dynamic players. He’s making an impact not just as a receiver, but as a return specialist and even throwing in some punt returns. He’s an incredible asset for the Cardinals and he’s only just starting his NFL career!
Then there’s Demarcus Lawrence. Demarcus is definitely someone I’m proud to say played at A&M. He’s a defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys and he is one of the very best in the NFL. Demarcus has made three consecutive Pro Bowls since 2017 and he was second in the NFL in sacks in 2018. He is an All Pro and has won the Deacon Jones trophy for most sacks in a season, twice! It’s no wonder why the Cowboys are so lucky to have him on their team.
To expand on this topic, I’d like to go into depth about the impact these players are making in their respective NFL teams. For starters,Johnny Manziel was able to bring a lot of attention to the small-market Browns with his high-flying style of play. He also set a lot of records and it was obvious he had a passion for the game. Von Miller has been an important leader on the Denver Broncos and his presence has been felt ever since he got to the team. He’s been one of their best players for years and has helped the Broncos get to the Super Bowl and become a perennial contender in the AFC. Christian Kirk has been instrumental for the Arizona Cardinals as their return man, as well as their number two wide receiver. Demarcus Lawrence has also been a key player, as he is one of the best defensive ends in the NFL. His pass-rushing skills have been a huge asset to the Dallas Cowboys and they wouldn’t be the same without him.
Furthermore, these players have also made an impact outside the NFL. Johnny Manziel is a philanthropist and business owner, Von Miller has his own company as well as a charity, and Demarcus Lawrence is a leader off the field too, attending as many events and helping out the local community. Christian Kirk is also someone who uses his platform to do good, inspiring and supporting the young generation of football players.
All in all, these Texas A&M NFL players have made huge impacts both on the field and off the field. They’ve all worked hard to get to where they are now and their stories of determination and success should be something that we all can learn from. It’s incredible what these players have achieved.
